Okay people Forereel is not a teen as you know, but I need to share this topic with you so that I feel better okay? Please use caussion when given your messenger info to people. AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and any other messenger service you use have profiles attached to them and can be quite revealing about you. Look in your profile section on your messenger and delete any telling info. If you like your friends to have your updated info then only add people you've talked to for a while, and believe you can trust or in MSN's case say no when ask if you want a person to receive updates on your personal information. You can always change your permission settings anytime .
Here's an example of what I'm talking about. A person you don't know ask for you messenger info. You want to talk so you shoot it over. Now they become a pest and you block them, but in the mean time they've been able to read your profile and whatever it contains, so blocking them only gets rid of them messenger wise, but if there a major pest then you may cause yourself a problem you don't need.
Your safe if your careful about the info you give out to whom, so think about that when your doing so.
Forereel.
Thank you for reel! I leave my profiles there blank! If I talk to a jerk I just block them! After all I'm not required to talk to them!
that's common since man... you put what you want in a profile anyware.
Yes, putting information in a profile is like broadcasting it all over the net.
yes. so we put the information in profile, which are focusable to all.
I'm sorry people but many teens put lots of things in their profiles not thinking about it. The reason I posted this topic is we had a actual perv on the zone a few days ago and that person was asking for MSN info directly after you logged on, even thought I was a girl due to my user name, so hit me up as well. One of our teens gave it directly and had to deal with the fallout of this. Now if that person had revealing things in the profile well the problem might have gotten worse. I see it's stated that's common sense, but connon sense isn't the trouble it's the eagerness to make friends which is a good thing if your savvy about this old world we live in. Some of us have a trusting nature by default and haven't been burned yet, so I felt I needed to post for my well being.
Dang For Reel too bad another wierdo on the Zone! It doesn't shock me! I've only met one freak here and he is being ignored!
Well any site such as this one will from time to time get people who pray on the unsuspecting. I personally haven't scene this person logged on for several days, so maybe it's just a one shot deal. Also I notice I've had 63 views, so maybe I've helped someone which was my original reason for this topic. Thanks to all who have posted.
Thanks for helping!
Yeah if somebody ask me for my e-mail or msn address I put them on ignoreright when they meet me . The are most likely really despret to meet people or they are a total freak.
If a wirdo emailed me I'd block him or her!
Yep yep, I'm with y'all. My cousin, who is 1year older than me (16) used to give her home phone number on the net to every guy that asked her! They'd say they were about her age, and once some old perv called her, and he'd never leave her alone and she was in big trouble with her parents. Actually they got rid of him because they never answered the phone or anything when he called, thank god.
I use the messenger that comes with windows xp and I find that it doesn't have a profile but it gives you the option of letting other .net service users add you. I;'ve had a few of them add me and I have blocked them and even removed them from contacts. But if you use windows messenger and I'm not talking about msn ias there a profile link I'm missing?
Yes. MSN or Windows live messenger and the messenger Windows messenger, that comes with XP are different. Live messenger allows a person to have a profile and add anything they like to it and allow anyone to view this information as they see fit. Sense I posted this however there have been many upgrades as far as safety, so you would have to do your profile, or live spaces, then decide who can view the information you put on the different sections available. Before now it was simplar then this, so I think with the new features a personis forced to be more selective with the information they choose to allow viewed by whom. Now as a rule I don't believe it is a good idea to trust information to the web/internet under any settings you really don't wish to be viewed in case of hacking, but the features are suppose to be safe.
good job forereal i think you are doing a good thing man. i'll second everything you have said on here.
Yeah, I don't put anything but the basics. The only things I put as a link is both my ff.net and fp.com. accounts I am desperate for reviews. If anyone wants to add me to their favorites. I'd kind of like to know and connect with blindies on both sites, but no farther information is given except my name and birthdate.
i'm glad. about this.
i get to know. others. on here.-
